Charlottesville, VA – September 8, 2016 – Mission Secure, Inc., (MSi) a provider of cyber protection solutions focused on control systems and critical assets in energy and defense, announced it has successfully closed a third round of financing. The funds will be used to expand MSi’s team and further enhance the company’s patent-pending Secure Sentinel Platform. The Secure Sentinel Platform protects control systems and the key processes they monitor and operate from cyber attacks.
“As security issues around defense and industrial assets and control systems continue to emerge, customers recognize the need for innovative products that detect sophisticated cyber attacks and enable resilient and continuous operations in the event of an attack,” said David Drescher, Chief Executive Officer of MSi. “This most recent round of financing includes both existing and new investors and further demonstrates the confidence backers have in our business strategy and unique, non-traditional cyber defense approach. The additional funding will accelerate MSi’s ability to deliver targeted, cost effective cyber defense solutions to our critical infrastructure and defense customers.”
MSi’s investors are all U.S. citizens from the defense industrial base of Washington, DC, the energy sector in Houston, Texas, major financial centers including New York, NY and Chicago, IL, as well as Charlottesville, VA, where the company is headquartered. MSi is solely comprised of U.S. citizens and all of the company’s technology was developed in country.
MSi spun out of the University of Virginia (UVA) in 2012 to commercialize cyber security technology and methodologies initially developed at UVA’s Department of Systems and Information Engineering in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense. MSi continues to work closely with UVA and is actively involved in projects with defense organizations regarding control system cyber threats and solutions. In October, MSi will join the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), along with three other Virginia-based companies, at the AUSA (Association of the United States Army) 2016 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
